Preface

Welcome to the 2007 edition of Asialaw Leading Lawyers.

Asialaw Leading Lawyers is a directory of the finest corporate and commercial lawyers in the Asia-Pacific region – as judged by their clients and fellow legal practitioners.

It is based on an extensive survey in which corporate counsel and other legal and business professionals were invited to nominate the best legal practitioners in 21 key areas of corporate and commercial law. Full details of the methodology are given on page VI.

This publication contains the names and contact details – and in many cases detailed biographies – of almost 800 legal practitioners who stood out in the survey. All of the lawyers listed in Asialaw Leading Lawyers 2007 have been nominated and endorsed by their clients and peers in the legal profession. Their recognition relates to the quality of their work in one or more specific practice areas over the past year.

In addition to the complete list of endorsed lawyers, Asialaw Leading Lawyers 2007 contains editorial commentaries on the survey results in each practice area. Based on interviews with many of the professionals who participated in the survey, the editorial commentaries provide analyses of the achievements of many of this years’ Leading Lawyers as well as a concise round-up of the key developments in each practice area.

We trust that Asialaw Leading Lawyers 2007 will be an authoritative resource for those responsible for procuring legal services in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as a useful guide for anyone with a professional interest in Asia’s legal landscape.
